The Chinese thought: Taoism in a glance

A prior knowledge on philosophy and religion that has woven the Chinese thought from antiquity to the present, through a language both scientific and metaphysical. Taoism is based on the concepts of peace as the foundation of society, on the serenity as a condition of personal mental equilibrium and on spiritual dimension as a fundamental value of Human been.

Lecture: "The Sacred Path: The Search for Harmony between Taoist Values and Personal Choices".

Taoism is a true  mystical and initiatory journey and one of its fundamental goals is to create the harmony between Heaven, Earth and Human.
The human has a great responsibility in this process since our individual choices affect the harmony of the whole.
This holistic view determines the values that inspire us Taoist and require us to take care of the environment so as to have compassion for our human limitations and, at the same time, protect all living beings.

Dialogue to know each other and grow together.

The Portuguese Taoist Association has organized an informal meeting attended by the Taoist Associations of Brazil and Canary Islands and the Taoist Church of Italy.

Each of these organizations develops their own projects, with many similarities and some  differences.
It was a very profitable deal on common issues, the challenges and opportunities we face in our cultural and religious commitment each of us in their respective countries.
I am convinced that the Taoist leaders should meet more often to coordinate joint projects, to exchange experiences, to share their skills and knowledge, support each other to disseminate and raise awareness of Taoism in the West, adapting, of course, the communication on their respective countries but without losing the essence of Traditional teachings that we have in common, especially the religious one.

I thank the Taoist Portuguese Association for this opportunity and the wonderful hospitality they have given to me.

Compassion Day

In promoting values for a society based on human solidarity and on acceptance, the Taoist Church of Italy has dedicated 2104 to Compassion to stimulate cultural and social reflection on this issue.
In particular, on 11 and 12 April, there were three major activities.

Dott.ssa Antonia Di Pippo, I.T.S. “Michelangelo Buonarroti”;
Dott. Roberto Papa, I.S.I.S.S. “Enrico Mattei”
Dott. Luigi Suppa, Liceo Scientifico Statale "Armando Diaz";
Dott.ssa Antonietta Tarantino, I.S.I.S.S. " Galileo Ferraris",
Dott.ssa Adele Vairo, I.S.I.S.S. “A. Manzoni”

1. Literary Award on Compassion

Because compassion is a universal value, for the dissemination of which, the School plays a major role, the CTI has launched an essay contest for students of the last three years of High School. It was attended by over 300 students.
The themes chosen, read by the authors, during the awards ceremony, showed how young people are sensitive and ready to accept cultural diversity and to help the integration through the reception and with-passion with others.

2. International Seminar " State and Religion , citizens and believers on the threshold of the third millennium"

The seminar was organized by the Taoist Church of Italy, in collaboration with the Chair of Ecclesiastical Law of the SUN , directed by Prof. Anthony Fuccillo and the respective of Renmin University in Beijing, headed by prof. Feng Yujun . In addition to these academic speakers were also the Rev. Maestro Xinde Deng , Chinese Taoist Association and the dr. Vincenzo De Falco professor at the SUN .
Law and Religion can communicate in compassion , having reciprocal opening to allow the regular worship of Taoism in Italy .

For the first time there was the possibility of having a debate on the relationship between State and Religion in China and compare it with our legislation , not to mention the international scenario .
This meeting opened the doors for future collaborations and positive developments between the two Chairs , the Chinese Taoist Association and the Taoist Church of Italy.

3 . Taoist Teachings on Compassion

The fundamental ethical values of Taoism are universal because they aspire to a livable and sustainable human society, where differences are not seen as a pride or guilt but as the polychromatic manifestation of the Creator.
At the center is the affirmation of the dignity of the Human Person.
This is a Good of the humanity: a meta-value to promote and defend at all costs.
The tool to achieve this is called Compassion.
Taoism has promoted this value since its beginning about 2500 years ago.
To promote the traditional Taoist teaching  in Italy we have invited the Chinese Taoist Association , CTA , the most authoritative organization in the world and the Taoist Mission Singapore , which we are bound by old friendship , to send a delegation .
From China came the Rev. Masters Xinde Deng , Cui Liming, Lou Wangyong , Dr. Wang Shuxian , CTA Director of General Affairs , and Ms. Hou Yuxia, a columnist for the official journal of the CTA
From Singapore, the Rev. Masters Lee Zhiwang Maestro and Rev. Tan Zhixia.

Their teachings have lighted our way making us feel even more part of the great universal Taoist family.

Finally, the Taoist priests celebrated a rite of protection, collegiate and solemn, for the benefit of the believers.

Roma - 20 marzo 2014

"Chiara Lubich and religions: together into the unity of the human family."

The event wanted to remember, six years after the death of the founder of the Focolare Movement, her commitment to interreligious dialogue.

The Taoist Church of Italy welcomed with joy the invitation as a sincere dialogue, for the benefit of all humanity, is the basis on which Taoism establish itself.

I personally thank Maria Voce, current leader of the movement, expressing my admiration and acclaim for its tireless work and Pasquale De Rosa, with who I bound by fraternal friendship and spiritual unity of views.
